WELLINGTON RACES. By Telegraph—Press Association. WELLINGTON, January 22. The weather was fine and the attendance large for the second day of the Wellington races. The track was in excellent order. Results: — Mungaroa Welter Handicap, 7 furlongs—Osiris, 10.2, 1; Aberbrothock, 8.0, 2; Tauira, 3. Ail started. Osiris took charge in the straight, and won comfortably by a length. Time, lmin 31sec. January Welter Handicap, 1 mile —Vasa, 9.7, 1; Bourrasque, 9.11, 2; Valdemar, 8.10, 3. All started. Won very easily by four lengths. Time, lmin 42 4-ssec. WELLINGTON STAKES, 5 furlongs. Mr P. Neagle's Theodore, by Merriwee —Heavenly Twin, 2yrs, 7.5 1 Sir Geo. Clifford's Broadsword, by Clanranall —Safeguard, 2yrs, 7.12 2 Mr T. H. Lowry's by Merriwee —Ladv Helen, 2yrs, 7.3 * 3 Also started—Armlet 9.3, Gipsy Belle 8.3, Sharpshoote- 6.12, Expansion 7.0, Bally Shannon 6.12, Xylophone 6.12, Sea Queen 6.9. Theodore led all the way, winning easily by two lengths. Time, lmin 2 l-ssec. Wellington Racing Club Handicap, 11 miles.—Muskerry, 7.10, l;Truganini, 8.4,2; Gold Crest, 8.13, 3. Also started—All Red, Apa, Tangimoana, Blue Ribbon, Glenculloch, Moloch, Ikon. Muskerry practically led all the way, winning very essily by three lengths. Time, 2min 8 2-5 sec. Fitzherbert Handicap, 5 furlongs. —Lady Medallist, 7.0, 1; Cymlyform, 8.0, 2; Milan, 6.13, 3. Scratched —Boutade. A good race. Won by a hngth and a-halt. Time, lmin Ssec. Douro Cup—Consolation, 7.6, 1; Merrivonia, 8.7, 2; Seaton Dale, 8.8, 3. Scratched—Royal Guard. Merrivonia led to the distance, where the winner put in a run, winning a good race by half a length. Time, lmin 15 3-ssec. North Pole and Llanwern fell. Disposal Stakes —Splash, 8.0, 1; Sweet Lethe, 8.1, 2; Playmate, 8.1, 3. Scratched— De Witte, Xavier, Faux Pas. Splash took charge in the straight and won comfortably by a length. Time lmin 3 l-ssec. Metropolitan Handicap.—Tumut, 8.9, 1; Flitawav, 7.8, 2; Rangipapa, 9.1, 3. Also started—Ballarat, Taitoko, Mon Ami, Moriarty, Iranui, All Guns, Woodhey. Tumut took charge at the entrance of the straight and won very easily by three lengtns. Time, lmin 15sec. The tutalisator receipts amounted to £22,468, against £21,060 last year. Forty-two bookmakers were licensed.
