—4 , Received January 22. 9.42 a.m. SYDNEY, January 22. The Labour Council discussed a resolution modifying the previously adopted general strike motion. The new resolution proposes that no union shall order members to cease work, or take any action calculated to involve affiliated unions in industrial trouble, without • first affording the council an opportunity of investigating the matter, with a view to securing a peaceful sstilament where practicable. I: was explained that the intentionwas to prevent unions from prematurely commencing a strike before consulting the i-ouncil. and then coming to the council for financial assistance. The discussion is unfinished. The council has despatched two delegates to Broken Hill to investigate the trouble there, with a view to future action.
