WELLINGTON GARRISON BAND.
THAT LETTER. I ■ i By Telegraph—Prass Association, j PALMERSTON N., January 21. | . Regarding the Press Association < message sent out on Tuesday, coverng a letter of the Wellington | Garrison Band, Mr Cohen, President I of North Island Brass Band Association, expresses great indignation at i the attitude taken by the Wellington j Garrison Band, and hopes that the j competing bands will not be in- j fluenced against the Contest by it. The opinion of Mr J. P. Innes, legal j adviser of the Association, has been j obtained in the matter. Mr Innes is of opinion that the proceedings of tha Executive are perfectly valid and regular in all points raised, and that bands interested , and the H a stings Contest Committee, are not in any way likely to be prejudiced by any action of the Executive. The point is that the Executive has a perI feet right to amend the band entries and regulations, which is all they j have done. Mr Cohen considers the circular sent out is intended to prejudice the Contest. A meeting of the Executive has been called at Palmerston North for 29th inst., when Mr Cohen feels that consideration should be given as to what action should be taken regarding the objecting band, in view ot the extraordinary action. Regarding the name of Mr Alfred Hill being withdrawn from the ballot paper for judge, Mr Hill had never . applied for registration. Mr Hill i stated that he was too ill to undertake the work, hence the withdrawal of his name, which had been sent in '. by the Wellington Garrison.
