EKETAHUNA.

(From Our Own Correspondent). MOUNTED RU<L4>. Tuesday evening provided a very warm time for the camp. A large party of the "enemy" attacker! the camp, under Captain Page. Lieut. Prendeville opened fire fiom the Bluff ov:r the camp on the west Fine, while Lieut. Fanner worked through the Bush on the northern side of the camp. Lieut. Farmer's men evidently met with a warm reception as they could not advance over the river to take the camp. Lieut. Prendeville was therefore ordered to take a detour of about a mile, and make a demonstration on the southern ' side of the camp. The attack on front and rear was very deadly and the enemy decided on a frontal attack. Lieut. Prendeville was therefore recalled to support Lieut. Farmer. The attack was to be made from the west side. The river was in flood, so as the attack had to be made on foot the swing bridge had to be used for crossing. The presence of an enemy in the country had evidently j "demoralised the trustees" of the i bridge, and it was nearly as dangerous and noisy as the rifle fire of the defenders. The defenders therefore had warning of the intended attack, and brought the whole force forward to repel it. The enemy only made one capture of importance. They captured their own horses in a very gallant manner. Wednesday morn- 1 ing was devoted to field exercises, i and outpost work, which were t carried i out in a very satisfactory manner i under Captain Page. j
