WORK OF EUROPEANS. PRESIDENT KOOSEVELT'S EULOGY. BRITAIN'S RULE IN INDIA. Received January 20, 8.5 a.m. NEW YORK, January 19. President Roosevelt, in a speech delivered at the diamond jubilee of the African Methodist Episcopal Church, eulogised the work of Euro peans in America, Australasia, Africa, Egypt, Java and the Philippines, and referred t? the lasting benefits conferred on native races. The President concluded by payirg a remarkable tribute to Britain's beneficent rule in India. A CONTRAST. Received January 20, 9.16 a.m. NEW YORK, January 19. . There is much comment in America over President Roosevelt's appreciation of British rule in India. It stands out in remarkable contrast with the views of Mr Bryan (the defeated Democratic candidate for the Presidency) after his visit to India, and with Mr Keir Hardie's crusade in America against his country.
