MOUNTED RIFLES. From Our Own Cn-ivsponik'nt. Monday evening vva; devote., to outpost work. otafF-Captain Brown was in charge, and put the squadron through some useful work on the Mangaronga road. Onluosduy morning the squadron was ex'reised on the parade ground by Sta'T-Captnin Brown. Lieut. Farrnuv w.in exercised in practical work by Captain Br'»wn with one troop, and Sergeant Potts and Corpi.ral-s lvashleigh, Mathews and Marshall, by Captain Herbert and Staff-Sergeant-Major Burr with the other troop. The signalling squad are to be examined by Staff-Sergeant-Major Browning this " (Tuesday) evening. The squad consists of Sergeants Potts and Doyle, and Troopers Clark and Jaspers. The tents occupied by Sergeant Hill and Sergeant fiashleigh's men are lead ng for the competition for the best kept tent. The competition seems to be developing too far, one tent slept on the cold, hard ground one night rather than destroy the pretty arrangement of the straw.
