AMUSEMENTS.

"DIANA OF DOBSON'S." Cicely Hamilton's romantic comedy "Diana of Dobson's" will be staged at the Town Hall to-morrow night. One of the assistants at Dobson's, "Diana," comes into a legacy of £3OO, and a new life of freedom, travel, and pleasure opens out to her. At a fashionable hotel in Switzerland, Diana soon has a lover paying her attention, a captain of the Welsh Guards. When she has spent her £3OO Diana returns to London, only to find a place in the ranks of the unemployed. On the Thames Embankment, in the early morning, the out-of-work shop girl meets her unlucky guardsman. Brought together by the currents of misfortune, Diana nnd the guardsman resolve to sink or swim together. The part of Diana should suit Miss Brune. Mrs Robert Brough, Miss Emma Temple, Misses Nellie Colvin, Florence Kelly, Edith Lewis and Geirge O'Meara are included in the Company. "THE THIEF." The first appearance in Masterton of Mr J. C. Williamson's Star Dramatic Combination on Saturday night next, is regarded with more than ordinary interest. "The Thief," with which the season opens, was originally produced at the Racaissance Theatre, Paris, in November, 1906. It was adapted and produced at St. James' Theatre, London, in September, 1907. and simultaneously at the Lyceum Theatre, New York, where it enjoyed a successful career till May, 1908. "The Thief" is described by the "London Daily Telegraph" as a "great play." On Monday night another play with a marvellous record of success, will be presented—viz., "Zira." Box plans for "The Tbiel" and "Zira" are now open at Miss Rive's. ! A REMARKABLE TRIO. The Cherniavski Bros, will give a concert in the Town Hall on Tuesday, January 19th. These three young Russians, aged, respectively, 17, 14 and 12, have caused considerable stir in the critical camp of musical London during the last two seasons. Their talents are happily divided, Leo, the eldest, being the violinist, Jan, aged 14, a young maestro at the piano, and Mischell possesses a phenomenal mastery over his 'cello for one of his years.
