BANKRUPTCY RETURNS.

AN INTERESTING STATEMENT. The returns in bankruptcy for the Masterton district, for the twelve months ended December 31st, 1908, show that twenty-five persons sought the protection of the Court, twentyone being on their own petition, and four were adjudicated on a creditor's petition. From the statements filed, the gross estimated assets amount to £7,060 8s Bd, and the liabilities to £14,625 7s 6d, whilst the amount of debts proved total £14,053 7s 6d. Debtors' Liabilities, from £SO to £IOO, 1; from £IOO to £250, 10; from £250 to £SOO, 7; from £I,OOO to £2,000, 5; from £2,000 to £5,000, 2; total, 25.
