LAST YEAR'S FIGURES. INDUSTRIAL OUTLOOK HOPEFUL. LONDON 1 , January 8. The "Daily Chronicle" argues that, despite a shrinkage of the extent of 102 millions as compared with 1907, British trade is through the worst of the depression, and is now more than holding its own. [ The "Times" doubts whether there will be any materia! expansion in 1909. The "Westminster Gszette" declares that the amount of trade equals that of 1906, despite the depression, and the industrial outlook is hopeful. COMPARATIVE RETURNS FOR DECEMBER. LONDON. January 8.
