The Wallabies by 3 tries defeated England, who' scored 1 try. The ground was in splendid condition, and a very fast gp.mo resulted. There wei'e nearly 20,000 speectators present. The Wallabies practically put their best team in the field. Morran was absent owing tj lameness. A j sensational start was made, Mobbs, of Leicester, scoring a brilliant try in the first minute. Rowe obtained a lucky try twenty minutes later, the ball screwing away from an English threequarter, who was trying to touch down. The scores were level at half-time. Play was exciting in the second half. Russell scored a try by following up a high punt. Russell scored another brilliant try in the last minute after splendid passing by the threequartsrs. The victory was due chiefly to the splendid scrum work by the forwards, who almos'; invariably secured the ball, giving the threequarters many fine open-
ings. W igan (2 goals 2 tries) beat the Australian League team (the "Kangaroos"), 2 goals and 1 try. In the first half Messenger early kicked a penalty goal and converted a try by Walsh, Wigan scoring an unconverted try. In the second half Wigan added a goal from a try and a penalty goal.
