The Manawatu Racing Club wrote notifying its intention of discontinuing the issuing of complimentary tickets to Stewards of other Clubs, owing tu the great number of tickets involved. Mr F. G. Maunsell wrote resigning as a member of the Club. —The resignation was accepted Accounts amounting to £43 12s 2d were passed for payment. Mr West, architect, of Palmerston North, waited upon the Stewards with plans and estimates of the proposed alterations to the course appointments, and explained the plans clearly. When the question of proceeding with the work came up for discussion, Mr D. Caselberg moved that the matter be held over until after the spring meeting. The present was not an opportune time to raise the necessary money, and, even if it were secured, a very high rate of ini terest would have to be paid. He" thought the work necessary, Put they should proceed with a degree of caution.

Mr 0. G. Cooper supported the motion pro forma, simply on the ground of the depressed state of the money market. The proposed alterations were practically imperative, but it was a question whether they could get the money n^w. Mr Pilmer urged that the work should be undertaken without undue delay. The Club must bring its ap-i pointments up-to-date or go out. He thought they should have arrangements sufficiently advanced to be able to proceed with the work immediately after the autumn meeting. Mr Pownall endorsed Mr Pilmer'a arguments, and in order to put the matter on a business basis, moved an amendment that a committee, consisting of Messrs Caselberg, Pilmer, Vallance, 0. C. Cooper, and the mover be set up to consider the probability of being able to raise £3.o'"*o by issuing fifty debentures of £E(J each and fifty of £lO each, suon convnittee to report to the next meeting of Stewards.—After discussion, the amendment was carried. The meeting then adjourned.
