CONFIDENT OF VICTORY. Received January S, 9.55 a.m. SYDNEY, January 8. The Labour Council has decided to issue a circular to ail unions, appealing for immediate help and financial support for the Barrisr miners. The point is taken that the adoption of the resolution was a defiance of the law. Some speakers urged that they should seize the chance of defying such a law. Yesterday was a quiet day at the Barrier. The pickets, acting on the advice of the leaders, show greater caution. The siege of the Proprietary mine is closely maintained. The men are very determined, and confident of victory. A train arrived early this morning with a hundred additional police. There was no demonstration.

MEETING OF DIRECTORS. ARBITRATION COURT APPLIED TO. THE ATTACK ON THE MINING STAFF. REWARDS OFFERED. Received January 8, 10 a.m. SYDNEY, January 8. At a meeting of Proprietary directors, the question of submitting the dispute to the Arbitration Court was discussed. it was Subsequently announced that a communication had been sent to the president of the court, but the nature of its * contents was not disclosed. The directors also decided to offer a reward of *SOO for information leading to the conviction of the parsons who attacked members of the mining staff and the local office. A WATER MAIN DYNAMITED. Received January 9, 12 15 a.m. SIDNEY, January 8. A water main at the Proprietary mine was dynamited to-day. The pipes, however, had not been in use for many years.
