BARQUE'S TRYING TIME

Received January 9, 12.15 a.m. SYDNEY, January 8. The barque J one which left Newcastle for M-uiritius on Tuesday was towed into Newcastle to-day. During the heavy gale t u e vessel was thrown on her beam ends. The cargo shifted, and the vessel was in imminent peril of sinking with every sea that struck her. The fore topnvist was cut away, carrying with it the main top-gallant mast. The weather eventually moderated, and the crew trimmed the cargo and got the vessel mora upright. Then a tug picked her up, and towed her to Newcastle.
