Middlerun farm, on Wednesday, a spark •from the engine set fire to a stack ot ■straw which it destroyed, together "with a large quantity of pressed -straw, and also damaged the straw press. The men were fortunately able to remove the threshing machine :from the zone of danger. A high ■wind was blowing at the time. Mr F. T. Kissel has resigned his 'position as engineer to the WairaTapa South County Council, to take >up a similar position on the Selwyn Council. The Committee of the Wairarapa jfr Pastoral and Agricultural Society .are protesting to the railway authorities against the dirty condition 6f the sheep and cattle trucks supplied for the traushipmdnt of stock from ;the Carterton Show.
