VICTORIAN ELECTIONS.
LABOUR GAINS. A FEATURE OF THE POLLING. Received December 30, 1.10 a.m. MELBOURNE, December 29. There was fine weather for the elections. The polling was not as heavy as usual owing to many persons being absent holiday making., Many of the returns are still incomplete. A feature of the polling is the labour gains. They carried several seata, especially at the expense of the Ministerialists. This is partly due to holiday absentees, more than the result of quarrels amongst the other parties.
It is understood that all the Ministers are safe. The latest returns make the state of the parties roughly as follows: Ministerial .. .. 24 Opppsition .. .. 18 Labour .. .. 21
With two more electorates still to come in, the final figures may alter the position of affairs.
