The Department of Industries and Commerce has lec-ived the following cab'e from the High Commissioner: — Christmas trade is very dull.
The mutton market is very quiet. Average prices to-day are—Canterbury 3|d, North Island 3|d.
The lamb market is unfavourable. Average prices are—Canterbury, s£d, other brands 4|d. The beef market is depressed; supply exceeds demand. No change in prices.
JThe butter market is dull; New Zealand 108s.
The cheese market is steady, with an improved demand. New Zealand, 58?.
The hemp market is dull; no change in prices. Manila output, 20,000 bales.
