THE WELLINGTON WOOL SALES.
Interest in the second Wellington wool offering, to be held at the Town Hail on Bth January, is becoming stimulated as the wuol continues to reach the stores. From 15,000 to 17,000 bales are expected for the sales, which will begin at 10 a.m., and are expected to last all day, and to possibly trench on the evening. Buyers will start valuing on the 6th for local men, and oversea buyers on the 7th and qt daylight on the day of the sale almost up to the hour, which explains why the sale opens at 10 a.m. instead of 9. The Napier sales will be held on the Tuesday before the Wellington day. It is extremely difficult to accurately forecast prices, but the general impression amorg wool men is that medium and inferior crossbreds will fetch £d to .}d lower than the December sales. At the same time prices for the best wools suitable for America are expected to hold their own. The usual revival in trade which takes place in England after Christmas may, however, falsify the prediction that there will be a slight drop in prices for medium and inferior crossbreds on the De- j cember prices.—"Post."
