Received December 28,.9.50 p.m, ST. PETERSBURG, Dec 28,
An attempt made yesterday by the police at Moscow to arrest a suspected anarchist resulted in the loss of life. The anarchist barricaded himself in a room in the second storey of a villa in Moscow. On the police surrounding the house, and making a combined rush on the room which the anarchist occupied, he drew a revolver and shot and killed the superintendent of the Gendarmerie, and_badly wounded the second officer.
The anarchist held such a strong position that he was able to keep the police at bay for several hours. He kept firing on the police and wouuded Colonel Kotten. Chief of the Moscow Detective Department, and another officer and policeman. Finally the anarchist committed suicide.
