A STEAMER WRECKED.
GOES JASHORE IN A FOG. LOSS OF LIFE. A TRYING EXPERIENCE. Received December 23, 10.3 p.m. LONDON, December 23. News of a shipping disaster near Cork, attended by loss of life, has been received. A steamer named the Freda, carrying 22,000 bales cotton, and bound from Galvescon to Liverpool, was totally wrecked at Mizzenhead, Cork, in a fog. There was' a huavy sea running at the time of tlie disaster.
Five persons, including the captain, were drowned. The rest clung to the cliffs all night, and had a trying experience. They were rescued at daybreak. The steamer's cargo ™as insured for over £250,000.
