CARTERTON.
Our Own Correspondent. * " Monday. On Saturday night the Masterton, Carterton and Greytown Volunteers went into "week-end camp" at Belvedere. Major Tate was in charge. On Sunday morning there was a parade at 6.30, and instructions were given in attack. After breakfast there was a good deal of marching and counter-marching, attack and defence, and the expenditure of a considerable amount ot ammunition. The boy scouts gave valuable assistance, and took very kindly to their duties. In dismissing the troops the Major-in-Charge gave the men great praise for the manner in which they had carried out their duties.
Mr and Mrs J. Lawrence and familj are leaving Carterton to take up their residence at Aramoho, Wa'nganui. Mr Lawrence was for several years in business in Carterton as a storekeeper, but of late has been living in retirement. Mr W. Campbell, who has been prominent in all matters for the advancement of the town, is shortly leaving to take up his residence in Marton. He was mainly instrumental in raising funds for the Town Clock and for the Fire Brigade Station. It is intended to make some public recognition of his valuable services to the town before ..his departure.
