SAN FRANCISCO MAIL SERVICE.
By Telegraph—Press Association. AUCKLAND, December 21.
The Premier received a communication from San Francisco yesterday, to the effect thai there is a strong desire in the United States for the re-establishment of the direct service with New Zealand. A project is m embryo, but Sir Joseph Ward understands that if a service is arranged the steamers will be larger than those previously employed. As to the port of call, Auckland would be selected either for the San Francisco or the Vancouver service, as with the Trunk railway completed it would give the best and quickest connection to the whole of the Dominion.
