By Telegraph—Press Association. AUCKLAND, December 20. Glorious weather prevailed yesterday for the concluding day's play of the fifth round of the A uckland CricKet Association's championships. The effect of heavy rains of the midweek on the wickets were not apparent, a drying wind and brilliant sunshine on Friday taking the moisture out of the ground. The season has been marked tiy brilliant batting, but yesterday's, performance in the senior grade eclipsed those of any previous day. No less than four centuries were scored, E. Horspool (179), Brook-Smith (163 not out), Relf (161 not out), and Cummings (105) attaining the coveted honour. In addition, five scores of 50 and over were made. The following are the details of the senior grade matches: —Ponsonby v. Graiton. Ponsonby first innings 163, Grafton first innings 271, innings declared closed with nine wickets down (E. Horspool 179, C. Hay 54). Poii.onby second innings 82 for five wickets (Wood 54). Grafton won on the first innings by 128 runs, and secured a two point win. Parnell v. City: Parnell first innings 136, City first innings 268 (Neill 78 not out, Gleeson 52, Archer 36, Lambert 31, and MacCormick 29); Parnell second 114 for seven wickets (Lusk 43). City won by 132 runs on the first innings, and secured a two point win. Eden Colts v. Eden-A: Eden Colts first innings 268 (Relf 161 not out, Francis 41). Eden A first innings 312, innings declared closed wilb one wicket down (Brook-Smith 163 not out, Cumininee 105). Eden A. won by 4 runs ©n the first innings—a two point win. University v. North Shore: University first innings 103. North hhore first innings 200 (Philson 35, Haddon 34, Bush 29). University second innings 142 (Gray 50, Wallace 29). North Shore second innings 60 for one wicket (tJaddon 31 not out). North Shore won by. 9 wickets, securi Jg the only three point win of the day. DUNEDIN, December 20. The cricket matches were continued yesterday in splendid weather. Dunedin beat Carisbrook B on the first innings. The former made 261 (Eckhold 115) and 56 for one wicket, Carisbrook compiling 138 (Barron 41). Grange defeated Albion by 18 runs. The former made 37 and 162 (Chadwick 50) and the latter 91 ar.d 90. The Carisbrook—Opoho match ended in either a tie or a win for Carisbrook by one run. The former made 152 in the first innings and the latter 65. Opoho made 140 in the second innings, leaving Carisbrook 54 to win. The scoring books do not tally, one crediting Carisbrook with 54 and the othdr with 53.
