CHARGE OF MANSLAUGHTER.
By Telegraph—Press Association. WELLINGTON, December 20. At the inquest on John Ferguson, a fireman, who died at the Hospital on Monday last, evidence was given that on the previous Saturday night the deceased was struck by Robert Charles Collins, mechanical engineer, and fell heavily from the footpath to the road, never regaining consciousness. Collins said Ferguson was drunk and wanted to fight, and he merely him "a bit of a shove. The jury found that death was due to fracture of the skull through falling on the roadway by reason of a blow received while in a state of intoxication. Collins will appear before the Magistrate to-morrow morning on a charge of manslaughter.
