There was a further jnspft>vemen£ in Mr C. A. Pownall's condition yesterday.
The death occurred on Wednesday of Mrs T. Smith, an old resident of Kaiwaiwai. The deceased was 88 years of age.
Mr and Mrs Patrick C'arr, of Masterton, have purchased an hotel in Norsewood, and intend leaving with their family, for the jatter place in a few weeks time.
The death occurred on Wednesday of Mr Maurice Heady, at the advanced age of 72 years. The deceased, who was formerly a sergeant of police, was stationed at Wellington for many years. Before coming out to New Zealand he was a member of the Royal Irish Constabulary, but he left that force to join the Papal forces and fight against Garibaldi in Italy. During the campaign he received a decoration for conspicuous bravery. Afterwards he came to New Zealand, where he has been for about thirty years. He retired from the force some fifteen years ago, and went to the West C.iast, where he has been living ever since. He leaves a grown--up family.
