PAHIATUA FIRE BRIGADE.
I PRESENTATIONS. (From Our Pabiatua Correspondent), At the Pahiatua Municipal Fire Brigade's meeting on Tuesday, the Mayor (Mr D. Crewe) attended and presented several medals won by members. The first was a long service medal (five years) and a bar (ad- / ditional five years) to Lieut. J. Mills, senior Lieutenant Mills thanked the brigade and stated that although he had served as a fireman for twenty years he had received no recognition from the Masterton Fire Brigade, having served ten years there. A silver cup, the first prize in a series of three competitions, wasthen presented to Fireman F. Parkes. Mr Parkes thanked the' brigade for giving him a second run it}' the first event, he having been disqualified for not wearing his helmet. The Mayor remarked that this showed the good ieeling that existed between the members. Silver medals were also presented to Lieut. VVallis, and Hydrantrran Radford, who secured second and third places, respectively. Both recipients suitably returned thanks. (Japtain McAlister was presented with a pipe as a Christmas box. Captain McAlister said that he hoped he would continue to merit the esteem of the brigadesmen. The Mayor made some laudatory remarks regarding the brigade, and the efficiency of its members. He said that he hoped they would continue to take as keen an interest in their work in the future as they had done in the past. As it was the last meeting of the brigade this year he wished them all "A Merry Christmas and a -Prosperous New Year."
