Mr Hogan, M.P. for' WanganuiV and Mr Mackay, who contested the' seat against him, will be entertained by their respective supporters nextf week. Ariki Anaru, the invalid Maori, fo'r whom a benefit concert was held in the Town Hall last week, has beer* removed to the Otaki Sanatorium for consumptive?. A fairly substantial sum was raised for the invalid by his friends. Mr J. Kershaw, corresponding secretary for tweny years to the Wellington District Committee, 1.0.0.F.M.U., has resigned his. position. At a meeting of the committee on Friday evening the following record was entered on the minutes:—-"The Pro. C.S., Bro. J. Kershaw, intimated to the Management Committee that on June 30th,. 1909, he would have completed twenty years' service, and that he 1 was desirious ot retiring from office at that time. The committee expressed its deep regret thac Bro. Kershaw purposed resigning, and it was resolved that nominations be invited from the lodges for the office, and that the District Committee be requested to provide that the Prov. C. S. elect be installed in office on July? 10th."
