AN AMBITIOUS BOY.
WOULD BE AN ANTARCTIC EXPLORER. STOWS AWAY ON THE NIMROD. By Telegraph—Press Association. LYTTELTON, December 2. Those on board the Nimrod were much astonished yesterday as the vessel passed out of the heads to discover a boy about 13 or 14 years of age stowed away among the stores. The discovery was quite accident tal, and the boy might have gone a long way before being found. He said he wanted to go all the way. Naturally it was impossible to take him. A launch happened to come along soon afterwards, and the young adventurer was handed over to those aboard, protesting vigorously.
He wept bitterly at the disappointment. The lad is a Christchurch boy, and it is not beyond suspicion that has parents were aware of his intention.
