THE SCULLING CHAMPIONSHIP.
THE APPROACHING MATCH AT j WANGANUI. : WESB REGARDED AS THE PROBABLE WINNER. By Telegraph—Press Association. WANGANUi, December 2. Though the Webb-Arnst race for the sculling championship of the world is to take place in a fortnight's time comparatively little interest is being manifested by the public. This s. largely accountable for the fact that the contestants are in caaip some miles up the river. Both men are training satisfactorily, and are in the pink of condition. There is no doubt that a rattling good race will be put up, but critics are of opinion that Webb must win. . Arnst has done some good spins over the lull course, and has shown that he can stay till the finishing post is reached. Webb has also gone over the full course, and though the times have not been divulged his party are said to be quite confident as to the result of the race.
