MASTERTON LOCAL OPTION POLL.
PETITION FOR MAGISTERIAL RECOUNT. On Saturday a petition in the following form was sent to Mr W. P. James, S.M., at Masterton:— "In the matter of the Licensing Act, 1908, and in the matter of the Licensing Poll taken in the Masterton Licensing District on the 17th day of November, 1908. "To Wm. Palliscn James, Esq,, Stipendiary Magistrate, Masterton. "We. the undersigned electors resident in the Masterton Electoral District and qualified electors of such Electoral District, hereby apply in terms of section 29 of the Licensing Act, 1908, for a Magisterial recount of the votes recordep at the Local Option Poll, taken lor the Masterton Licensing District on the 17th November, 1908, and we deposit the sum of £lO herewith in accordance with subsection (c) of the aforesaid Act. "Dated at Masterton this 27th day of November, 1908. Thomas James Porter, hote^eeper, Masterton. Fredk. S. Cooper, hotelkeeper, Masterton. James Cress, hotelkeeper, Masterton. J. O'Meara, hotelkeeper, Masterton. John Russell, storeman, Masterton Hugh Cameron McPhee, Masterton. John Connell, barman, Masterton. Frank D. Pelling, Masterton. The Magistrate has appointed Friday next as the date on which the recount will be held. The proceedings will be held in the Court-house, and wiil commence at 10 o'clock in the morning.
