MARATHON RACE.

DORANDO FINISHES STRONGLY. HAYES EXHAUSTED. Received November 27, 9.20 a.m. NEW YORK, November 26. The race was run on covered tracks at Madison Square Gardens, the distance being 26 miles 385 yards.

Dorando's time was 2 hours 44 minutes and 20 15sec. It was a neck and neck race till the twenty-sixth mile, when Dorando went ahead. He finished strongly, but Hayes was exhausted. There were 10,000 spectators. While training, Dorando took frequent meals, including three quarts of Chianti daily. _ (At the Olympic Games at Shepherds' Bush, Dorando finished in front of Hayes, but the American was awarded the palm because the Italian had been assisted by friends in the final stages of the strenuous struggle. The distance was 26 miles 385 jards, and the time 2 hours 55 minutes 18sec.
