WOOL SALES
KEEN COMPETITION. Received November 26, 10.45 a.m. LONDON, November 25. At the wool sales there was keen competition at full opening rates. American buyers are taking both merinos and crossbreds. The Department of Industries and Commerce has received the following cable from the High Commissioner, dated London, sth November:—-"The wool sales have commened, with a large attendance and keen competition. Merinos and crossbreds show an average advance of last sale of id and fd respectively. Americans are operating freely for suitable lots, and prospects are favourable." Messrs Abraham and Williams, Limited, have received the following cab'.e from London, under Wednesday's date:—"The sales have opened with a large attendance of buyers. There is good competition and heavy buying by all branches of the trade. There is a good demand for all kinds of crossbred wool, for which prices are Id to l£d per lb higher than the closing rates of last sales. The demand is active for all slipe wools, which have advanced 7J to 10 per cent. Merino is in good demand, and has advanced 5 to 7J per cent. Prospects generally are brighter."
