LOCAL OPTION POLL. By Telegraph—Press Association. WHANGAREI, November 26. The official returns in connection with the Marsden Lucal Option Poll is as follows:—Continuance 1,891, reduction 2,107, No-License 2,539, valid votes 4,484. Continuance was carried. Reduction was short by 135, and No-License 151 short. APPEAL FOR FUNDS. CHRISTCHURCH, November 26. The campaign cost the No-License Tarty in the three electorates so much that an appeal for £BOO is being made to clear off liabilities. The executive has no fear in view of the satisfactory result of the poll that the sum will not be raised at once. A great demonstration is to be held next week. ~-—., MR HUNTER ENTERTAINED. DANNEVIRKE, November 26. Hunter Opposition candidate fur Waipawa was this evening entertained at a complimentary banquet at Dannevirke by his supporters. There were about 130 ladies and gentlemen present. The proceedings were enthusiastic. The candidate was the recipient of a souvenir ot the election. Mr Hunter expressed the intention of contesting the seat if his suppoters wished. Mr Hunter has also been entertained in other centres of the electorate. REGAINING HEALTH. DANNEVIRKE, November 26. Mr Hall, Liberal candidate for Waipawa, who has been ill through the contest is now regaining his healtn. A DENIAL. WELLINGTON, November 26. Mr J. A. Hanan, M.P., for Invercargill, denies a statement that has been circulated to the effect that he intends to resign his seat in favour, of the Hon. R. McNab. THE OTAKI SEAT. PROBABLE APPEAL. WELLINGTON, November 26. It is stated that an appeal will be lodged against the election of Mr W. H. Field for the Otaki seat in the House of Representatives on the ground that sufficient secrecy was not observed at one of the polling booths.

NEW PLYMOUTH, November 26. The "Taranaki Daily voicing the generally expressed opinion throughout Taranaki anticipates the selection of Mr W. T. Jennh.gs, M.P. for Taumaranui, as the new Minister for Lands.
