UREWERA NATIVE LANDS.
AN OFFER BY RUA. By Telegraph —Press Association. GISBORNE, November 26. The "prophet" Rua interviewed the Native Minister this morning and offered 100,000 acres in the Urewera Country for purchase by the Government to obtain money to clear off liabilities and encumbrances against his people and their property, and to assist him in clearing and stocking further areas. The Hon. Mr Carroll said he would accept the offer, and on his return to Wellington would place the matter before the Department. Rua assured the Native Minister that he would render the Government every assistance in opening up the country for settlement.
