extension of business. a London dinner. Received November 26, 10 a.m. LONDON, November 25. At a dinner at the Hotel Cecil in celebration of the extension of the business of the Australian Mutual Provident Society, to Great Britain, L.ord Larnington (r former Governor of Queensland), Sir Felix Schuster (the well-known banker), and representatives ol the leading insurance societies, were pl'osent. Sir Gilbert Parker, M.P., in proposing the toast "The Society," remarked that its wonderful methods must assuredly appe?' to the conservative mind of th? British public. Mr A. W. Meil.3, of Sydney, who presided, in responding, said the branch was another link between the Commonwealth and the Motherland, and he hoped it would help to make the wealth and progress of Australasia more widely known.
