WELLINGTON WOOL AND SKIN SALES.

The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report as follows:—We held our fortnightly sale on Friday, and submitted a fair sized catalogue to a numerous attendance of buyers. In view of the better tone of the wool market, sheepskins showed some advance on last sale rates. Hides and calfskins soid well at an advance on last sale prices. We quote: Sheepskins -Halfbred and fine crossbred, s|d to 6Jd per lb; coarse and medium, 5d to s|d; dead and damaged, Id to 4|d; dry pelts, 2|d to ,4d; green skns, 3s lOd to 5s each; green lambs, Is to Is 2d each; green pelts, 9d to Is 2d each. Hides—Ox, medium, 5d to s|d per lb; ox, light, 4£d to 4|d; cow, heavy, to 4gd; cow, light, 4d to 4Jd; damaged hides,2Jd to 3d; calf, sound, 6§d to 7§d; calf, damaged, Id to s|d. Tallow—Medium mixed, in shipping parcels, 23s to 23s 6d per cwt; odd packages, 18s to 20s 6d. Our next skin sale will be held on December 18th, as the second wool sale will be held on the ordinary skin sale date. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., held their fortnightly sale of skins, hides and tallow on the 20th instant, when a large catalogue of skins and hides was submitted to a good attendance of buyers, competition being very keen throughout the sale. They report as follow:—Sheepskins—The market, in sympathy with the rise at the last wool sale, showed an advance of about a farthing per lb on last sale rates. Prices realised were as follows: —Fine crossbred, 6d to 6£d; crossbred, 4gd to sfd; crossbred, dead, 3Jd to 4Jd;, crosbsred broken and damaged, 3d to 4d; crossbred, short, 3d; pelts, 3Jd to 4d; hoggets, s£d; hoggets, dead, 3fd; lambs, shorn, 4d; stragglers, 2d; green pelts, lOd to Is; crossbred, damp, 4sll<l„to 5g 8d; crossbred, salted, 4slod; lambs, damp, Is Id tols2Jd; rabbit skins, 6fd. Hides —No pr : me lots offering. Market showed an advance of about a farthing. Ox, 63 to 711bs, s|d to sgd; ox, slippy, 3|d; cow, 45 to 571b, 4d tof 4|d; dry hides, 4|d; yearling, cut and slippy 2Jd to 3sd. Calfskins in good demand, prices showing an advance of about a half-penny on last sale rates; best 7Jd to 71d; medium 6d, inferior, 3gd to 4gd. Tallow, in casks; 22s 9d, in tins, 21s to 21s 6d. Levin and Co., Ltd., report as follows: —We held our fortnightly sale on Friday. No wool was offered, all now coming to hand being held for the sale on December 4th. We offered 2,500 skins, ?710 hides, and calfskins, and a quantity of tallow and horsehair. Skins —The improved tone of the market was reflected on the skin sale to-day, and prices advanced a halfpenny per lb. We quote:--Fine crossbred 6d .to 7d, crossbreds 5d to 6d, dead skins 2Jd to 4£d, dead hoggets 2£d to 4Jd, dry pelts Id to 3|d green skins 2s 6d to 5s each, lamb skins 6d to Is each. Tallow—Firm. Parcels in shipping order £23 10s, tins £lB to £2l 10s, rough fat £lO to £l4. Horsehair— Is to Is 3d per lb. Horns 5s to 17s 6d per hundred. Cowtails Is 3d to Is 6d per dozen. Hides: WCpresented a good catalogue of well conditioned hides to a large number of buyers. Competition was very brisk, and prices rose a farthing to a halfpenny all round. We quote— Ox hides (heavy) 6i to 6|d, ox hides ' (medium) s£d to Gd, ox hides (light) 4|d to sgd, caw hides 4id to 4£d, cut and slippy hides 2d to 4d, stag hides 2|d to 3£d, bull hides 2d to < 3ld, calf best 6d to 7£d, calf cut and slippy 2d to 4Jd. Our next sale will be held on Friday, December 38th, 1908, a month hence. The wool sale falling on the next fortnightly date will necessitate the hold- , ing over of skin and hides to Decern-1 ber 18 th.
