SENSATIONAL DEVELOPMENT.

PRINCIPAL WITNESS ARRESTED. Received November 19, 9.12 p.m. BRISBANE, November 19. A sensational development occurred to-day in connection with the murder of Miss Nellie Duffy, a governess at a Carpenteria Downs station —for which crime Mrs Wilson, wite of the manager of the station, is being tried. The principal witness at the trial was "Billy" Wilson, an aboriginal. In his evidence "Billy" Wilson stated that Mrs Wilson asked him to come up in the morning as she wanted to ki!l MissjDuffy. He went up to the house before it was light, and, together with Mrs Wilson, entered Miss Duffy's room. She was asleep. Mrs Wilson had a pocketknife. He siood at the foot of the bed, and accused walked past him to Miss Duffy's head, and told him to hold deceased's hands. He did so. Mrs Wilson then pat a handkerchief to Miss Duffy's mouth and stuck a knife into the side of her neck. Deceased struggled a little. Accused held the handkerchief to deceased mouth all the time, and then took the knife out. Witness went through the whole proceeding graphically in Court. Miss Duffy, he said, only groaned a little. Accused, when she stabbed deceased, had her left knee on the bed. Giving further evidence, Wilson stated that he was afraid of accused's husband, from whom he had received many hidings. Once accused's husband tied a whip round witness's neck and hung him up to a tree. Another time he struck witness with a brand when it was hot. Witness went with accused to kill Miss Duffy, if he had nrt, she would have told her husband to put a bullet into him. Further investigations in regard to the case resulted to-day in the police arresting "Billy" Wilson on a char & of murdering Mis* Duffy. He appeared before the Police Court and was remanded for eight days. The charge against Mrs Wilson was resumed in the Police Court today.
