Speaking at. the distribution of prizes in connection with the Presbyterian Assembly Sunday School examinations in Oamaru, the Rev. W. Wright said that an offer of £2OO had been made to the Oamaru Presbytery on condition that some qualified person should be obtained to instruct Sunday School teachers in the art of teaching. The population of Canada is now placed officially at 7,000,000. According to the census of 1901, it then stood at 5,400,000. This growth, at the rate of more than 200,000 per annum, accounts in large, measure for the rising tide of commerce, and it certainly gives the assurance of permancy In that regard. The immediate results of this larger population are seen in the rapid expansion of Canada's commercial and industrial centres, with the incidental spectacle of unearned fortunes .being made in the enhanced value of real state.
