DEATH OF EMPRESS DOWAGER OF CHINA.
SUSPICION OF FOUL PLAY
Received November 16, 9.35 p.m
PEKIN, November 16. The Dowager Empress of China died on Sunday. No trouble is anticipated over her demise.
Her unexpected death so soon after the resuming'of the " decree appointing Pu-Yi as Emperor and Prince Chun as Regent has excited suspicion of foul play in Pekin.
According to Prince Chun shortly before" her death the* Dowager Empress advised him to consult the new Empress on all » serious questions, but all accounts agree that this lady is a complete nonentity. The late Emperor apparently died from neurasthenia, after lyinst in a state of coma since Thursday. He recovered consciousness on Saturday, and refused to be removed to the "PaviJion of the Peaceful Longevity," thu* violating precedent. He expired, without dpnning the proper robes or indicating ttfe site of his mausoleum.
. One hundred days' mourning will be observed fur the Emperor and twenty-seven months in the case of the Dowager Empress.
