THE MASTERTON SEAT.
The large crowd which assembled in the street to hear Mr J. Hunter on Saturday night, and the patient hearing which the candidate received, are indications that more interest is being taken in the electoral contest than has generally been considered to be the case. It would, indeed, be a satisfactory feature of local politics, if greater interest were taken in them—the result would be not only of benefit to the community at large, but it would tend to promote the growth of the town. A large audience and a fair hearing are all that any candidate can expect. If the views of candidates receive an attentive hearing, or are carefully perused, and thought over, the verdict may be left with every confidence to the voters.
