A HANDSOME DONATION.
BY DR. W. H. HOSKING.
£SOO FOR LADIES* AND GIRLS' SWIMMING BATHS.
On Saturday morning the Mayor, Mr P. L. Hollings, received the following letter from Dr. W. H. Hosking:—
Dear Sir,.—For some time I have intended to do something for the benefit of the people of this town, with whom I have livsd for the past 34 years. In touring the United States of America on three successive occasions,. I was impressed with the system of public baths established in many of the cities, and would like to see similar institutions provided here. 1 am now prepared, with the warm support and approval of Mrs Hosking, to give a sum of five hundred pounds towards the construction of a swimming bath for women and girls, to be named the "Christina and Alice Memorial Baths."
I shall be glad to confer with you with regard to the early erection and completion of the same. —Yourstruly, WILLIAM H. HOSKING, M.R.C.S. Masterton, November 13th, 1908.
