The annual competition between teams representing the Volunteer corps in the district for the Coleman Shisldtook place at Roy's Hill range, near Hastings, to-clay. The Shield was won by the Napier Guards, with a score of 1,053, beating the previous record, that of last year, by 33 points. The Napier Rifles were second with a score of 1,004, and the Dannevirice Rifles third with 992. Sergt.-Major Humphries, of Hawke's Bay Mounted Rifles, with a score of 03, won the Bolton Cup for the,best score by a member of a mounted corps, and he also won the Championship Belt.
