MOUNT MORGAN MINE DISASTER.

FIVE MEN KILLED

Received November 5, 10.30 a.m. BRISBANE, November 5. men were working in the slope at Mount Morgan when the mishap occurred. The eight victims were close together. One of them, named Moore, from a vantage point evidently saw what was about to happen. He rushed to warn his and the brave act cost him his life, but the timely warning saved some of the others. A great mass of ore came down, killing Moore, Martin, Christerisen, Bombardeiri, and Butler. Three others were rendered unconscious. One, named Banks, is in a critical state. Another, named Lyons, was pinned near Martin, one of the dead mer., but a piece of timber kept the ore from crushing him. He found a candle, lit it, and freed himself. He then found Banks, unconscious, and dragged him under the shelter of the timber. A moment later another fall covered the spot where Banks had lain.

When searchers sent down a rope, Lyons fastened it round Banks and sent him up to the surface fii'st.
