MASTER BUILDERS' ASSOCIATION.

HIGH PRICE OF TIMBER

By Telegraph—Press Association.

INVERCARGILL, November 4

The eighth annual conference of the New Zealand Federated Builders' Association opened to-day. The delegates number twenty-four, from all parts of the Dominion. The annual report referred to the high price of New' Zealand timber, and the fear was expressed that it would result in the restriction of building operations. It was considered that the duty should be removed from foreign timber. The report was adopted. The President (Mr Bennett) said the Arbitration Act had a level-ling-down tendency. A better system would be to pay wages according to ability.
