UNEMPLOYED PROBLEM.
THE PORTSMOUTH DOCKYARD. WORK FOR FIVE HUNDRED • UNEMPLOYED. Received October 29, 11.35 p.m. LONDON, October 28. The Admiralty's special grant of £4C,000 for the Portsmouth dockyard will provide work durirg the winter for 500 unemployed. The Government proposes in connection with the municipal loan specially authorised for the purpose of providing work in slack months to pay local bodies from the central fund a sum representing the difference! in value between the ordinary labour and the labour of unemployed.
