MANAWATU SPRING SHOW.
Now that the entries are to hand one is able to form some idea of the Widespread interest that is being taken in the A. and P. Association's Spring Show. In some of the events the entries are exceptionally large, and the stock are representative of the very best breeders throughout the Dominion. This in particular is an indication of th 3 popularity of the Show, as after ali quality is the great desideratum, and the cream of blooded stock in this part of the island will be at the Manawatu Show. The total entries are as follow: Horses: Thoroughbreds and ponies, 63; saddle horses, 126; harness horses, 46; draught horses, 87. Cattle: Shorthorns, 89; Hereford, 20; Aberdeen Angus, 6; Ayrshire, 36; Jersey, 54; dairy, 38; fat cattle, 14. Sheep: Lincoln, 48; Komney, 193; English Leicester, 69; Border Leicester, 32; Downs, 133; Roscommon, 4; farmers' classes and fat sheep, 42. Pigs, 65. Poultry, 93. Art and Industrial Pictography, 35. Technical and PuHic Schools, 625; Needlework, 15',. Home Industries, 170. In the rir ■■■ competition entires for the first city" total 88, of which 46 belong to th- Maiden Hunters' Competition. For the second day there are 90 entries, and the Hunters' Competition is again much in evidence with 22 entries. This competition is ior ladv riders only, and is sure to be watched with interest. Of the total 30 also belongs to the Leaping Competition which commences at 3.30 p.m. On the third day the entries are still hipher and reach a total of 95, of which 40 are ior the Champion Hunters' Competition. Then there is a total of 273 entries for horse competitions alone. Another feature at the Manawatu Show is the Manawatu Kennel Club Dog Show, and their entries are excellent in every way and number 300. Noticeable among these are the Fox Terriers, for which there are 80 entries for the smooth and 31 for the wire-haired terriers; the Irish Terriers account for 21 entries; Bulldogs; 34; rough-coated Collies, 51; and Cocker Spaniels, Si'.
