RESOLUTIONS PASSED

MELBOURNE, October 22. The Medical Congress carried a ■motion to the effect:— "That hospitals maintained by charitable donations and Government grants should be free to patients, and that patients should sign a declaration that they are unable to afford medical attendance." It was also resolved-—"That no medical man should pass for admission to a friendly society or association, for professional attendance at contract rates, any person whose income from all sources exceeds £4 per week; and that no medical man should attend at contract rates any member whose income exceeds £fi a week." At the Australasian Medical Congress, Dr Masin, Cnief Health Officer for New Zealand, delivered a paper on "Sidelights on the Work of a Health Officer."
