SITUATION IN THE BALKANS.
As was confidently anticipated by those best informed upon the international situation, the agitation in the Balkans is subsiding. The Bulgarian reserves are to be disbanded in a few days, Turkey showing no disposition to resort to force, and there is every , appearance of the
whole question being privately arranged between the Powers before the arrangement is officially sanctioned by a formal conference. If we examine the causes which have led to this pacific solution of difficulties, which would have set Europe in a blaze only a few years ago, we speedily see that the main influence lies in the great Powers having too extensive interests to allow the world's peace to be disturbed for quite insufficient reason.
