Messrs Abraham and William-, Ltd., have received the following cable trora London, nndtr date 20tb inst.: —The sales haveeioiC) very firm for all wools, aj>i prcsptcts me good. There is an active demai d by all branches of the trade. Prices are als to id par lb hij.ier. Fjr scoured and sliped coarse crossbred the demand is stow, lnigtly owirg to heavy supplies, and prices are unchanged. The total quantity heldover is 40,000 bales, bfi which 20,000 are New Zealand.. Current prices for average conditioned wools are as follow:—Coarse crossbred, 36 to 40's quality, (s*d to medium crossbred, 44 to 46's quality, Sd to BA<3 ; fine crossbred, 50's quality, to 10|d.

~ The Department of Industries and Commerce has received the following cable frum the High Commissioner, dated London, 20th October. —Wool sales closed, with a brisk demand at present quotations. Supplies have been well cleared and prospects are rather more encouraging. There is a good demand in America and on the Continent. Estimated values are as follow : Superior merino, 10Jd to Is Id; medium merino SdtolOd; inferior merino, Gd to 7£d; fine crossbred?, all grades, 10£ d to la |d; medium crossbreds, all grades, 8d to lOJd; coarse crossbreds, all grades, 51d to BJd. Levin and Co. report.-September sales have closed. Merinos and greasy crossbreds generally showed a recovery on opening rates. Continental buyers are operating freely for these wools. For scoured and sliped wools, however, there was slow bidding, and these qualities showed a drooping tendency. Thirtyseven thousand bales were held over, of which 21,000 bales are New Zealand wools. The sales for next year riave been fixed as under:--19th January, unlimited; 9th March, unlimited; 4th May, limit not yet fixed; 6th July, limit not yet fixed; 21st September, limit not yet fixed; 23rd November, limit not yet fixed.
