Count Leo Tolstoi, the well-known Russian writer, who recently celebrated his eightieth birthday, replying to birthday congratulations from the Australian Federation of Single Tax Leagues, expressed warmest sympathy with Henry George's teaching, and intimated that he would gladly assist the Leagues' efforts to abolish injustice arid evil in regard to property in land which was the cause of economic misery, political disorder,and moral depravation of the people.
