LONDON WOOL SALES.

CLOSED FIRM. By Telegraph—Press Association. Received October 20, &0.40 a.m. LONDON, October 19. The wool sales closed very firmly! The New Zealand hoan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd, received the following cable:—London wool sales lower 5 per cent; medium crossbred slipe and lambs, lower 5 percent to Tk par cent; superior scoured merino, higher par to 5 per cent; greasy merino about same; crossbred lambs, greasy crossbred, 1 fine crossbred, closed firmly. Messrs Murray, Roberts and Co. have received the following wool market cablegram from their London agents, Messrs Sanderson, Murray and Co., dated October 19th:—"The sales have closed with no material change, an 33,000 bales held over. Competition is very brisk. Good greasy combing merino in very firm, but scoured woola»are irrezular." Messrs Dalgety and Company, Ltd., ■ Wellington, have received the following cable message from London, dated 19th instant:—"The wool sales closed firm. As compared with the closing rates of last series, greasy merino (combing) medium quality wools are ac par to 5 per 1 cent, higher; fine crossbreds, par to 5 percent, higher; greasy merinos, gond quality and condition, unchanged; inferior merino wools, par to 5 'per cent, lower; scoured merinos, sto 10 per cent, lower; greasy • crossbred 3, medium and course quality, par to 5 per cent, lower; scoured crossbreds, 10 per cent, lower; slipe wools, 5 to 1\ per cent lower. The total net quality available amounted to 257,000 bales. Eight thousand bales have been sold to America; 109,0D0 ba'les for Home consumption, and 102,000 bales for _tbe Continent; 20,000 bales were not offered, and 38,000 have been carried forward to the next series. Should political complications be avoided, a slight advance is probable later on."
